Paul Chapman was honoured last week for his longtime contributions to officiating amateur football.The Burlington resident was awarded the Ken Green Award, presented biennially in recognition of an amateur football official for his on- and off-the-field contributions, including development of officiating in Ontario.The award, sponsored by Fox40, has been presented by the Ontario Football Officials Association since 2003.Chapman, a retired Halton Regional Police officer, has been a member of the Burlington-based Lakeshore Football Officials Association for 35 years.He was also a member of the Ontario University Athletics Football Officials panel for 26 years, evaluating OUA officials for the past nine years.A familiar face on football fields across the province, Chapman has been instrumental in mentoring officials who have gone on to success in both university and CFL football.

The award was presented last weekend in Niagara Falls at the Ontario Football Officials Conference hosted by the LFOA.He joins a select group that includes Michael Groleau of the LFOA, Kevin Mickleboro of the Hamilton Football Officials Association, Gord Smith of the Bay of Quinte and Kingston football officials associations and Jack Leitch of the Toronto Football Officials Association
